Thai Chicken & Noodles a la Tom

Tom & Roderick
We lunched on the patio this afternoon, after a stiff game of tennis at Stationers' Park. We had grilled salmon and salad (which we grow outdoors). Later, Tom cooked spicey Thai chicken. Roderick was discussing plans for the garden of the new house. Sarah wants a purple and white garden, while Rod is more interested in the garden's architecture and general design. They hope to have a water feature. Caley is being trained to relieve herself around the side alley of the house.

Midsummer Night's Dream

Roger was our host. The playreading was held in his garden. Ep played Helena (the maypole) and sundry fairies while I played Lysander. For me, it was the first time that I hadn't drank wine, nor did I eat, except for strawberries and tomatoes. I didn't have a big role and I sulked. I am a thankless person; beautiful, warm evening in the garden, good company, good play, Ep - what more could I ask for?
Jackie was there. Derek, her husband, has just died. I liked Derek, though I hardly knew him; a strong sense of humour. Last time I saw him, I called to deliver a script, I was with Simon. I can still hear his dry voice and feel his friendliness.
