Roderick's Birthday!
Monday evening. I've got some kind of a mild virus. Monday is Ep's day off. We went to Sainsbury's. I stayed at home while Ep went to the Muswell Hill Garden Centre. She came back with a grow bag, some sweet pea plants, some alyssum/lobelia and, what is it? rabbit's ear? Ep made a stir fry with tofu. Roderick made cous cous, Tom made some kind of chilli-chicken. It's always like this on Mondays. We had a couple of bottles of wine for Rod's birthday. I watched the beginning of Lord of the Rings with Roderick. He's off to bed, having started at 5.30 this morning from Wantage.
This afternoon Ep and me watched "Last Orders", which I recorded from last night. We were amazed how good it was. I had read the book but wasn't expecting the star-studded cast to be half so good. I expected one of those feel-good "English humour" movies full of nostalgia and "the english film industry is not dead" kind of patriotism. Not a bit; it was true like Mike Leigh, and not obvious.
I'm recording a couple of Iranian films tonight from Channel 4 by Kiarostami.
I'm going to have a lemsip! and off to bed.
